Another Sunday Has Passed
March 2nd, 2010

Sunday morning we started our “40 Days of the Word” with a focus on Philippians 4: 7-8. Pastor Dave shared through the principals in this passage we can overcome worry and anxiety. It is a choice we make every day, sometimes many times during the day, to either worry or have the peace of Christ.
We continue our “40 Days of the Word” with emphasis on Sunday mornings, Small Groups, and personal devotions. We have handed out 40 Day reading plans (a few can still be picked up at the church) and are journeying through Luke. If you are doing this you should be on day 6 today and reading Luke 3:1-38.
We are collecting food for a family in need. Please bring your donations to the church this week as we will be packing the box for them on Sunday.
Also, please note that we will be voting on Pastor Dave on Mar. 7. As Wesleyans, all Senior Pastors accept the initial call on a 2 year term (All staff pastors are hired by Sr. leader on a 1 year term). At the end of those 2 years, the board makes a recommendation about the Pastor for the people to vote on. Our Local Board of Administration has recommended Pastor Dave for 4 more years. So March 7th after the PM service all are welcome to come and participate in this. Everyone will be allowed to speak and vote, however, the decision is ultimately made by the members of the church. The results of the vote will be given to Pastor Dave to pray and seek the Lord’s leading to make his decision.
Bowl For Kids Sake: Pastor Dave, Kyle and Megan and others will all be part of a bowling team to help raise money for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Yarmouth on March 6th. We will be representing Yarmouth Wesleyan at this event. If you would like to sponsor us, let us know (pastordave@yarmouthwc.com) We need to know before Saturday. Big Brothers and Sisters will send you a bill for any amount over $20.00, we will need your address to pass on to them. This is for a great cause and it gets us out in the community.
Sermon This Week: Pastor Dave will be sharing a message from Ephesians 6 and the battle we face every day.
Evening Service: Rev. Jack Plaizier (Pastor AJ’s dad) will be preaching in the PM Service as we continue our series through the book of Esther. We will be looking at Esther chapter 8.

Missions Moment:
Ø A few weeks ago, the Church in Haiti asked everyone in the country to pray February 12, 13, and 14, and it seems like the whole country listened. Churches everywhere were holding services that started early Friday morning and continued until Sunday evening. In Anses-a-Galets, they had been able to hear church services all over town. Even the town square was filled with worshipers who had gathered to sing, pray, and listen to speakers. Leaders called for this prayer time in response to the desperate post-earthquake needs of this nation. The country still lies in shambles and the violence and anarchy of Haiti’s history seem close at hand, but the Church is reacting against the past and looking forward to a more positive future. Churches here have seen a large number of people turning away from sin and back to God since the events of January 12th. They are continuing to ask people to turn to God and pray that He’d heal this nation. This kind of declaration is monumental in a country with a heritage of voodoo and ancestor worship. And this Haitian initiated, Haitian led national time of prayer is a testimony to the strength of the third, fourth, and fifth generation Christians in this country. Please pray with the Haitian Church that God would use this time to change the hearts of people of Haiti and that He’d bring His redemption in a place facing so much devastation
